Executive Director:
Position: Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Texas NORML’s Nonprofit’s volunteers, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission.
Responsibilities:
Outreach –
Build new partnership, establishing relationships with the funders, and political and community leaders
Publish and communicate program results
Design expansion and complete the strategic planning process for the program expansion
Prepare for, attend and participate in interviews, panels and speaking engagements
Organization Building –
Lead, coach, develop, and retain a high-performance team. Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents
Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders
Network, groom and aide sister chapters to build grassroots in targeted areas
Lobby Efforts –
Maintain line of communication and presence with coalition partners
Organize and prepare lobby related events
Maintain a relationship and presence with key legislators
General –
Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors: serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for both ongoing local operations as well as for the national rollout
Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand
Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals
Fundraising –
Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and regional expansion
The Executive Director will answer directly to the guidance and supervision of the Texas NORML Board.
