Support Re-Legalization in Texas on 420!
April 20, 2019Testimony Regarding Workplace Drug Testing for State Employees
April 23, 2019Rep. Joe Moody’s bill to reduce penalties for low-level marijuana possession has been added to the House Calendar for April 25th!
At the Capitol, the Calendars Committee placed HB 63, which would remove jail time and the collateral consequences that come along with a criminal marijuana possession conviction, on the House Calendar on April 25th! This will be the first time marijuana decriminalization has been discussed on the House Floor since the 1970’s. It is imperative that we continue to build support for this important legislation so that we can make it out of the House and on to the Senate.
Please ask your representative to co-author HB 63!
Time is tight to move bills forward, so we need you to take action today — Call your representative!
1. Identify your representative and their Capitol office phone number.
2. Call your Texas State Representative to ask that they join 42 other legislators by becoming a co-author for this important legislation and remind them to vote YES for HB 63 when it’s up for a vote on the House floor.
Here is a script you can use:
“Hello, my name is ___ and I am a constituent. I would like to request that my representative become a co-author for Representative Moody’s HB 63 and vote yes for the bill once it is considered on the House Floor.”
Please note that the following legislators have already co-authored this legislation. If your representative is on this list, please call to thank them!
What else can you do?
· Ask your Representative to Co-Author HB 1365! Texas patients need safe access to medical marijuana.
· Join us for a Direct Action at the Capitol on Wednesday, May 1st. We will be distributing information to all of the legislative offices.
· We’re almost to our crowdfunding goal. Will you pitch toward our efforts at the Capitol? Our crowdfunding campaign will end on April 25th. (Thank you!)
This is a positive step forward for this important legislation, but there is still a lot of work to do. We will need all hands-on deck over the next week, so stay tuned for our action alerts!
