Welcome to Week 1 of your Membership Drive Challenge!
October 4, 2021Welcome to Week 3 of your Membership Drive Challenge!
October 18, 2021Week 2: Join Texas NORML and find out who represents you!
This week, we’ll take the next step toward involvement in our Texas government: learning about your legislators. These legislators author legislation that impacts our everyday lives. We specifically rely on our State Representative and State Senators to change our state marijuana laws and our US Senator and US Congressperson to change our federal marijuana laws.
WEEK 2 ACTION: WHO REPRESENTS ME?
Go to the Who Represents Me? page. Watch this quick tutorial.
Enter your info and click the button to see who represents you!
How does YOUR legislator stand on the issue? Now that you know their names, let’s find out where they stand on cannabis law reform. Review their 86th Legislature Voting Record. Go to the Texas NORML Voter Guide to see how they responded to our questions. Stay tuned for our Texas Marijuana Policy Primary Voter Guide in Spring 2022!
From there, you can find out your officials’ responses to our questions about cannabis law reform. Some officials declined to answer (more on that below).
Once you know who represents you, and where they stand on cannabis reform, let us know at our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with #texasvotescannabis!
THE BOTTOM LINE
If your state representative already supports reform, they could use a pat on the back for their work. If they’re against you on this issue or have not responded, it’s because legislators feel secure in their jobs, despite working against the will of Texans. Imagine if you banded together with thousands of other like-minded voters, and worked for policies in line with your beliefs?
Join Texas NORML today to do exactly that! Remember that we will be sending to all current members a special discount code for use when shopping at the Texas NORML store.
WHAT’S NEXT?Your representative may have neglected to reply to our survey about cannabis positions or perhaps does not yet support marijuana law reform. You may have to go a step further and find out where they stand. Next week, we’ll call the offices of our elected officials and learn about their positions. See you in Week 3!
