CNN Story: Sooner Or Later, Marijuana Will Be Legal
September 29, 2010Breaking News:California Governor Signs Marijuana Decriminalization Bill
October 1, 2010Here’s a message from Cheyanne, a member on our board and the coordinator for the Women’s Marijuana Movement’s Satellite Rally in Support of Prop 19 here in Austin. Even though we won’t be able to vote on the matter, just remember that supporting them is an important step in the effort to re-legalize cannabis. As the saying goes “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and nationally, the same holds true for reform. It’s going to take all the smaller victories we can get, and Prop 19 could finally get the stone rolling to where responsible adults are able to use cannabis without fear of persecution. Please join us in support, hope to see you there.
“Please join us in Austin for this important event as women nationwide hold coordinated press conferences, with the help of The Women’s Marijuana Movement, to announce their support for California’s Proposition 19, the ballot measure to control and tax cannabis similarly to alcohol, the 1st step in real legalization.
It’s time to let America see that WOMEN feel ending prohibition will make their communities, campuses, and children safer. Together we can see marijuana legalized, and with October also being Domestic Violence Awareness month, we have perfect timing for a great opportunity to do something to help Prop. 19 pass, spread our message, AND educate the public about the fact that marijuana is safer than alcohol!
Please invite all your friends, don’t worry about finding a sitter and bring your kids, and share widely. Look forward to seeing you there and making a positive impact together! Women are going to be a huge driving force in finally ending this insane prohibition.
Thank you!

P.S. Of course men are welcome:) – but the women will be doing the talking at this one. Encourage your family and wives to attend!
Just as early voting begins in California, women across the state of California -and the nation- will gather to speak out in support of Prop. 19 and spread the message that it will make people safer in California and elsewhere. You can find out more information here, and if you’re in another city, please find out if there is a similar effort being made in your area”
